I might get criticised for this comment but I drove three different TDV6's and all had an unacceptable turbo lag when accelerating. I had that on my RRS TDV8 and it drove me mad. The SDV8 pickup is almost instant. |

Couldn't disagree more in my experience regarding the apparent turbo lag. I've owned both engines and both are great. The V8 is pretty quick and fairly economical but a little noisy when tootling around, the V6 is smoother and quick enough and more economical and feels more nimble. That said there's no doubt the V8 is the one for those who prefer to charge around everywhere but if you are coming from an L322 you'll find the V6 quicker than the old V8 and less than a second slower than the new V8.

I sometimes tow - so wanted the engine with the most torque - I'm very happy with the SDV8 |

Is the 4.4 the same engine as in the L322? |

I chose the TDV6 due to it's lower weight, better economy & performance similar enough to make no real world difference so the cost saving & reduced running costs won me over.

imo the problem is spending what £100k nearly on a Diesel, its getting worse so my vote would be the 5.0SC.

I'm with CaymanBlack .... I have the SDV8 which is great, I agree probably a bit rougher round the edges but has all the power ...

A drop on the ocean based on the new Bentayga Diesel which i'd assume will be around £160k & hitting £200k spec'd.

I agree with the general view that the 3.0 is probably smoother at idle etc than the V8 .... but it still sounds like a diesel ! Stephen Gazard
