Flat battery but never seen this before..

I parked up tonight and switched the car off. I got out to unload the boot and then went in the house, leaving the key in the ignition (position 1). Only just realised what I’d done and went outside to retrieve the key and the dash lights are all flickering rapidly. The battery is dead flat now but I’ve never seen the lights flicker like this.

Is it as a result of a completely flat battery or something else?

They do do odd things if the battery is weak do you have a fault reader? How old is the battery? and how often is the fatty used?

It’s used every day. Battery is about 2 years old. I’ll get it jump started today and see what faults I have. I disconnected the battery overnight

Thats all I can suggest it would be different if it was used every now and then - I used mine every day for 3 years never a problem then started to use it once or twice a week and got all sorts of daft faults
Lets know what faults if any

i had what i thought to be weak/flat battery for a while even after i solved a current drain on the bluetooth module. then 1 day the car wouldn't start and i had lots of lights on bongs on the dash, basically the statrter motor had been failing slowly over the last 2 years or so and stranded me at work. Just clicked with no life. fitted a second hand one and now it start like its a little 1l petrol the difference is incredible!

I've been working on a 2006 TD6 which has been standing immobilised for months and i charged the battery but again left it for a week with a lot of sitting in it not started and running diagnostics.
The other day we connected snap on diagnostic and the dash lights flashed on and off as did the interior light and then all went off and when i went around the front there was smoke coming from the grille area and a strong smell of burning.
i shut it off, disconnected the battery and charged it and also disconnected the fan in case it was that and it has been fine since charging it back up.
Little git still wont start but we are working on it .....................
