Idle Speed

Having had my FFRR for almost two weeks I'm loving it but I've noticed it sounds like it is over-revving when stationary.

Dial is showing around 700-750 which doesn't seem to be that high to me. Changing into Neutral doesn't seem to make any difference and I've tried turning everything off that I can in case it's a voltage variation as I assumed that would make a difference, but it still stays the same.

Am I being over paranoid ?

Thanks
Andy

That's ok then. Thanks

I'll just start getting paranoid about something else now Smile

I've been wondering the same thing on my 2004 TD6. It sounds and feels like the engine is turning much faster than the rev counter says.

I can't find it now, but in the past I've watched an online lecture about (probably Jeep) ECU's where it was said that the engine sends signals to the electronics, but the electronics is programmed to send out what you want to see to the gauges. In other words, you can't trust anything much on the dashboard displays.

I wish I could find the video. The speaker had taken a spare engine control unit, measured the signals in the car and set up a simulator.

I wondered whether my RR does something similar. Old 110 2.3 Petrol ???? - ????
