Tailgate rubbing on D-pillars

Only just noticed this, but the upper tailgate is pulled too tight against the D-Pillars on both sides and has worn a ridge in each.

Chatting through this with the workshop manager at the local dealer, I got the impression he had seen loads of these in the past.

Anything I should be concerned with when this gets fixed? Apparently the pillar trims will be replaced and the tailgate will need to be adjusted. 2016 SDV8 AB

Just to advise that this has now been fixed under warranty.

The D pillar finishers have been replaced and the upper boot spoiler (housing the high level brake light) adjusted so that it no longer touches the pilllars. 2016 SDV8 AB

I noticed the other day that one of our D pillars seemed a bit wobbly loose. Thought no more of it other than to plan to have it checked out. Wonder if that's the reason/ will check tomorrow...

Think ours is afflicted on both D pillars from the 'wing tips' of the roof spoiler impacting with the pillars when the boot closes. See damage caused to the pillars on either side, as photographed this evening. Also tends to explain why the driver's side pillar feels a bit loose.

I think TOPIX captures this issue. Can't access the full details as haven't paid for a subscription but the summary on TOPIX says the following:

"Tailgate Incorrectly Aligned/Fouls D Pillar Exterior Trims

A Customer may express a concern that the tailgate is incorrectly aligned or is touching the D pillar outer trims when closed. This version has been issued due to a change to the title and situation.

Global reference: LTB00926v2"

Very helpful - thanks for the posting from Topix.

For some reason I don’t understand, I’ve just looked again in Topix against my VIN and can’t see a bulletin with this reference. I assume it’s come from the “technical bulletins” section? 2016 SDV8 AB

Hi ABAB,

I'm not great at negotiating my way through TOPIx but didn't put a VIN in.

I just did a 'back to the start' open type search so typed in 2013 as a car year and then typed the word 'tailgate' in the search engine. It produced a lot of different tailgate related topics and this 2016 one was one of them (if that makes sense).

Really interested to know what the suggested action is though Thumbs Up
