United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Transmission controller, or gearbox ecu

Hi
I have done a few mods which included rebuilding my gearbox, with the help of phil of course.....

Anyway, when it all went together i still had a bit of cattle grid noise, only very slight, and only at lowish speeds, but there.
Phils advise was it will go in a few days, trouble is i have too many cars and driving the rr was a low priority.

But i did get to thinking about the bmw x5 controller version.

Short version i bought a bmw x5 version from a 2003, it works in the rr no problem, it has a higher software version and a later model version even though its from a 2003 as my rr. Be aware a lot of bmw cars use exactly the same box, but the software is differant for differant cars, i would only try an x5 personally....
I have a msv2 and plugged it in, it to reads the gearbox controller as the origonal rr one. And it cleared a fault it showed, low bat voltage from when i installed.

So my expierience is it all works together, it drove well, cattle grid noise is still there, very slight, but still there. I need to do some miles i guess and see what happens.
