So people i know this has been coverd on here i have a ffrr l322 my05 anyway had this bit of anoying issue the steering goes very heavy the 1st time this happend i sprayed the shaft knuckles with wd40 from underneath and steering was light i thought right i need new shaft anyway its done it again so i wobbled the wire feeding the servotronic valve and again steering works so is it the plug that is dodgy or the wiring where on the wire would be the best place on the wiring to look thanks guys

i'd concentrate on the wiring ..unplug it and check it thoroughly ... ... - .- -.

Does your central locking act up when this happens?

There is also a "bug" where the steering goes heavy and the central locking acts up. For mine the two rear doors wont unlock. I press the central locking button a few times and when it begins to work as normal turn the car off and on again.
Voila! light steering.

It happens very rarely but the above fixes it.

Some times ive noticed the rear door locks pop before the fronts only like a split second but you can hear the rears unlock 1st doesnt do it that often and to be honest ove never noticed if this messes with the steering

Picking up on Cooper1275's comments , I had the heavy steering and rear door and filler cap locking gremlins which were all connected and all fixed by replacing the BCU. That also, unexpectedly, cured an intermittent rear parking sensor problem too.
