I've now got the same issue, and have a rear window that has been doing it for a while (clicking under passenger seat when button pressed). I think it is the ECU that is starting to fail, bit by bit. Tom

I guess first job is to get at the power connector on the roof motor and try it direct from a battery. This will help to determine whether it is sunroof or somewhere before sunroof.
