Sounds like an airlock clearing. The level will vary with engine temp. Leave it alone for a while and then check it. Try not to take the cap off when the engine is warm as the system will be under pressure hence why you saw the level go up.

oh and only check the coolant level when cold. so in the mornings is best. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I would wait to see if the coolant level settles down. I think mine had some thing similar. The Indy re-bled it and put stop leak through it. This after it was flushed. It now moves between the two marks on the bottle.

coolant doesn't really cycle through the header tank, its basically just an expansion vessel. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

never really checked to be honest Im off out in a min will see if my 4.4 tdv8 gets hot. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

coolant is pretty warm in the expansion bottle after a run out. so you might have an air lock. keep bleeding air out of the screw on the top of the expansion bottle. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
