Do the late models with keyless start still have a steering column lock that engages when the motor is switched off? Or was this only on the models with a mechanical ignition? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

i'm sure they do. After switching off the engine if you wait until the the display goes off you can hear a mechanical noise as the lock engages. |

My 2011 has a lock after I turn off, no idea how it works though. |

I disabled my MY12's steering lock, not trusting the electronics to determine if the vehicle was no longer in use after learning about a MY07 when its alternator failed and rapidly discharged the battery. Not key-less but it still locked the steering whilst the key was in the ignition switch in the ignition-on position. I can't see any advantage in having steering locks in modern vehicles. |
