Absolutely, jack up all the corners one after the other and check for free play.

Have you checked the rear bushes - I went through two sets (genuine RR parts) in four years of ownership last time I had them replaced ended up having a new hub carrier fitted - as they got worse it started to feel "loose" at the back end |

Looks like a few things to try this weekend. Thanks all, I'll report back if I find the cause. |

You could take it for an MOT and ask them to report any bush wear .

i'd suggest a warped tyre or buckled wheel could be causing that.. ... - .- -.

I would try replacing each wheel in turn with the spare to see if the problem goes away with a particular wheel change. |

Putting it is neutral will not eliminate the drive train - it all still spins around. Just driven by the road wheels rather than the engine |

Finally got this isolated to the rear left corner and has been confirmed today as a warped tyre making Stan the winner. Thanks for all the input guys Pirelli scorpions £194 each corner better than a blow out though... |

Interesting. I had exactly the same issue last week. Steering was fine and not juddering, but the car felt a bit vague and the rear of the car wobbled side to side under 35 mph.
