Haven't really seen anything about the superchargers on the 4.2 going wrong... Alex

Obviously you can only pick from the cars available at the time you want one. There will always be another along later if you are prepared to wait, but IMO the best cars are worth travelling for Tom. Obviously you need to make as certain as poss that its as good as you think before making the journey, but homework aside, a day out and a hundred quid or so is well worth it if it delivers the ideal result. Mine have come from Middlesborough, East Anglia, and Kent, all of which are a long way from Somerset! Just really annoying travelling to (eg Essex) if the vehicle is nowhere near as described... Fair play Mike. You're probably right. The drive home would be fun anyway. If it's available when I'm back from honeymoon mid May I'll be seriously considering it. |

Absolutely agree. If you're buying a volume car (e.g Ford, Audi, VW etc) then you'll find one fairly locally but if you're buying a premium vehicle (like a SC Fattie ![]() Good luck. ![]() 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography (2021-2024) - Santorini Black 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster (2016-2021) - Santorini Black |

Well I'm officially on the hunt now. Seen 2 in my price range that look decent enough, but clearly nobody wants a 2.7 RRS in PX as getting the dealers to respond is painful |

You could ask on here if someone in the area where it is could have a look for you. Most will do so and can give you an idea whether it is a dog or not before making a trip. In my interviews everyone said the 4.2 is better than the 4.4. Dave T. Especially drove home this point because they don't have vvt which went wrong one one of my 4.4s and the engine has slight changes to make it "more reliable". everyone who really knows these cars like mechanics and parts guys and shop managers will tell you the 4.2 is the best in terms of reliability. Look up some of Dave's posts on rangerovers.net he is a LR certified master mechanic. The 4.2 SC's also have a rear locker which makes a hige amount of difference offroad or on ice. It's really a different car to drive offroad with the rear locker OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog |

I’ll be really interested in thoughts re SKOT’s questions, as I’m in much the same boat myself, my 4.2SC just passed its MOT yesterday at 144000 and I’m reluctant to change it as all I’ve had go wrong in 11 years is the catalysts, which I’ve replaced and the deplorable steps, which I removed. |
