Made a cock up......

Hi everyone.

Late last year (2010) I had an attack of fiscal sensibility. I made the mistake of working out how much roughly the 51000 miles I had done had cost me ££££££££. After a basic session with a calculator (I knew it was a lot) i decided to change from my 2005 Black FFRR 4.4 Vogue to a less thirsty vehicle.

After a short hunt I plumped for new mercedes Benz E320 sport estate. Ideal for my trips from North Wales to London a few times a month. The thing is when I get in it I feel nothing. I may get double the mpg but it isn't a Range Rover. I also fell out of love with it when I got stuck in mud in a overflow car park !!!! A couple of inches of mud had me marooned. Since then it has been broken into in Nottingham. Needless to say we are not on speaking terms anymore.

It is time to get rid and go back to the Rangie. Looking for an ex demo maybe or 1 year old model. The only thing I am unsure of is the colour combination. Previously had a black with sand. Looking at something slightly different this time. Don't trust myself as also own a arctic frost D3 and that was a mistake.

As committed FFRR enthusiasts I would welcome any thoughts on combinations.

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Well if you want to throw caution to the wind then how about Nara Bronze with Tan interior.................... but if you prefer to more cautious then Stornoway with Jet or Ivory ........................ or super cautious then Santorini Black with Jet and the jet headling. Should be no problem to find a Black FFRR, there seems to nearly as many of them as there are Black RRSports.
As for suppliers then there are two forum sponsors who sell used FFRR and one of them also sells new ones.
Another place to look is Land Rover UK website where the dealers all show what used cars they have in stock 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

OK guys, what are the colours (& combinations) that would be the hardest to sell & should be avoided? (apart from obviously repulsive colours).

Thanks Tim for the colour options. Was poss thinking Stornoway.

Just been on the LR website and noticed they have introduced a new 4.4 TDV8. When did that happen? Also will it affect prices on the 3.6?

Might have to rethink and buy a new one.....gulp summons up courage to tell wife the holiday is off till summer.

I am in a similar position. I have a minty 4.2sc. I quite fancy moving to a more sensible diesel. I also promised myself that i wouldnt buy new again. However I don't want to go into a recent 3.6 as they will be unsaleable relative to the 4.4s in a couple of years (when I'll want to move into a used new shape Rangie. So I thought about a used petrol 5.0 as a stop gap. But then the snow came and Land Roveerr dealers could sell all the stock they can get their hands on. Perhaps waiting until the spring when demand has fallen and petrol diesel prices have put the average punter off.

In fairness the arrival of the TDV8 did not seriously adversely effect the values of the TD6 which have remained strong especially compared to the petrol V8.

As the 4.4 has replaced the 3.6 your are not going to have a situation where client chooses a model year (other than 2010) to buy and then has to choose between 4.4 & 3.6 TDV8. If he is looking in the 2009 price bracket it has to be a 3.6 if he is then looking at 2011 model year it will be a 4.4.....

Therefore introduction of 4.4 will not make the excellent 3.6 TDV8 unsaleable in any way going forward. Smile

What Gaz said.

The leap from the Td6 to the TDV8 was far bigger (4 seconds off 0-60) than the leap from the 3.6 to the 4.4 TDV8 (1 second off 0-60) in terms of power and refinement anyway IMO.

Land Rover dealers were discounting the last of the 3.6 TDV8 by about 7 or 8k anyway, which to me makes them a better buy than a full price 4.4 unless you need the top spec one with all the toys and don't care about depreciation.

Thanks for all the knowledge fellas.

Looks like a MY10 3.6 for 3 years then see how the new one looks.

Hoping to scout one out this week before a trip to car unfriendly Singapore. If I time it right I might have one for my return.

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I bought a pre-reg 2010MY TDv8 Vogue just at the change-over - the deal I got from LPR was fantastic and I would not have been able to afford a FFRR otherwise, I had been looking for a new TDv8 RRS to replace my 3 year old RRS TDv8 but LR had pulled the plug on production and what was left in dealer stock was in colours/ specs I didn't want. TBH I'm not bothering about what it will be worth in 3 years time if/when I come to change again - this far out it is very difficult to predict what will happen to values and today's VAT change was something nobody 3 years ago would have taken into account in their calculations of what they thought their car would be worth when they change in 2011 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
