United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Stornoway Grey
Reduced engine performance 4.2 SC

Hi all,

Have had my 08 MY 4.2 SC Fatty for just over a year.

When I got it it was showing the "reduced engine performance" fault, with no codes stored, so I came on here, searched and found the threads about the wiring being reversed and replacing the aux cooling pump.

I did that (replaced pump and reversed wiring as per TSB), and it has been epic for the last year (over 15K miles)

Yesterday it started doing the same again, so have investigated this morning and have found the following:

Pump doesn't run when ignition to position 2
Pump doesn't run when 12v is applied directly to it
There was no power to the pump wiring
The fuse shown in the photo had blown, replaced that and now have 12v at the connector

I won't retry connecting it as it will only blow the fuse again as it seems the pump is dead (tried direct 12v to it)

So, I'll order a new pump in the morning.

Has anyone else known this? Seems a short life for a pump?

Am only guessing, but, I bought the pump as a "Bosch" one but it seems it isn't, or at least is rebranded Rolling Eyes
My thoughts are cheap Chinese pump, listed as Bosch with a pretty sticker on.

I'll buy an OEM one this time!

Photos show the pump I bought and the location of the 15A fuse that feeds the aux cooling pump (in case it helps anyone else in the future)
