Never heard of this before, but my ff failed the mot today on drivers seat electric switch failure. It also failed with worn offside track rod end and lower suspension arm so it wouldn't have made any difference, but I have been waiting for the warmer weather (not having a garage) to sort it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to check the fuse as I couldn't get in the glovebox (another better weather job) as the first step to checking the supply, but the mech managed to open it and the supply checked out. I have asked the garage to cost a new switch pack (it is the full-on 3 memory 10(12?) way all singing all dancing one going for about £150 second hand on the 'bay) and was somewhat surprised when they quoted £212 new, special order from a LR main dealer. I have asked them to double check as I am aware that there are other seat/fewer switches modules and they have said they double checked so for 60is pound more I think I will go with the new one. My P38 would blow the seat fuse every time you sat on the driver seat. I could hear the fuse ping when I lowered my ample frame onto the seat. Clearly a heated seat wire in there shorting on the seat frame somewhere.

Being the sole user of the car (my wife could, but wont drive 'the beast' and with the seat failing when it was in the correct position I never considered it might be a problem. I have not had a car with electrically adjust seats before so I wasn't aware of the mot possibilities... QUID FACIUM TIBI

Does that mean driverless cars will also go to the nearest police station and hand themselves in if they break any traffic laws?

I can imagine a driverless FFRR destroying an entire town because a few drops off water have got into an ECU or it needs a battery reset..... 2006 4.2 SC

It will be for casualty extraction , if the seat can't be moved back and full reclined you cant get the spinal board in to move the casualty . We used to just cut the battery cables but electric seats being so common now the cables must be carefully removed so that they can go back on later the remove the casualty. 2008 MY Supercharged

Wouldn't the seat electrics be disabled by the explosive that cuts the power cable in case of a crash? Are things like seats, windows etc on a separate circuit that isn't disconnected? QUID FACIUM TIBI

Seems a bit strange but I can only assume it's to do with the fact that, without the electrics working, the seat can't be moved? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

The seat. MUST be adjustable fore and aft , thats the reason it failed , simple really its so ANY driver can be in proper control ie reach pedals and steering wheel |

I haven't looked at the explosive decoupler in a while but I seem to remember there being a small feed that is left, as by law the locks and seat must still work after an accident . 2008 MY Supercharged Rimini Red / Jet four zone climate remote park heater and no ugly kid windows. magnus satis quod turpis satis |
