Hey all, we have a l332 in where the boot floor is very rusty on the underside and has a couple of corrosion holes the size of a child's fist. We have ordered a genuine Land Rover repair panel section which looks like this

at that sort of money unless you need the wheel well I would be tempted to just weld in a flat panel for the cost's, never heard of a L322 rusting badly in the boot maybe where the car's been kept ?

Thanks for the quick reply, the car itself is in pretty good nick, it's just from the rear wheels back which makes us think it's been used for launching boats in the sea possibly? Once the new floor is welded in we will be shot blasted the rear underside of the car, we are a little concerned as the rear crossmember the air bags sit on looks quite scabby, are the l322's prone to rot in these areas ?

not heard of a l322 being very rusty in boot area at all, they do suffer with wheel arch's

Have a look under the sill covers towards the rear of the car, there may be some rust under there....... ______________________________

I recall another thread which showed bad rust around the bottom corner of the rear wheel arch, coming from inside the panel. There are also threads on water collecting in the spare wheel well from leaks above. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Yea...water can gather in there if there is a leak from the rear tailgate seal, or sometimes from the bolts in there that hold the back bumper on.

Not had first hand experience but have read a few threads..... though if it's all over the rear on the outside as well, might not be that.....

What year is the car ?

We have had quite a few of these L322 from 2008 to 2012 - never seen rust before.

I can only presume the previous owner had a leak in the back and water got into the boot -

The 2 L322 we have have completely been waxed oiled all over - the rear was done twice since brand new - 5 years later the wax oil is still there - protecting.

Good luck with the fix.

The car is a 2003 car but has had the 2012 lift done, looking round it inside and out you would think it is only 5 years old.
The underside and air bag crossmember is pretty scabby but seems solid.

Mine's also pretty horrible for rust. Just eeking out it's remaining life. It is 15 years old later this year so it's not something to be upset about.

Sorry about the sills, I had a feeling.

I read somewhere (I hope it's not true) that sills are not available as repair panels...  ______________________________

My boots gone in the same place, so you aren't the only one.

Mines a 2002, and judging by the underside it's been used to launch boats or something similar.

I'm not too worried, if it gets any worse ill just get a plate welded over it!
