td6 injector failure?

hi again guys , thought id ask some advice on here , have also asked on the facebook groups but opinions are varied !

anyway , after standing for a few weeks my td6 started smoking on start up and under load , started off quite light so i figured it was just from standing ect , now that its been used more the probem is getting worse and has helped identify it a bit more

im getting grey/blue smoke and a VERY strong smell of diesel from the exaust , also fuel economy is terrible !

seems to be an intermittent fault but getting more regular now , mainly on start up and under load , seems quite clean if revved when standing still

what are your thoughts on this? personally i think its injector failure leaking at the nozzle , its off the road at the moment so getting diagnostics on it would be a problem

its done 175k miles , serviced it last week , cleaned EGR too

problem was present before EGR clean and engine service

thanks

I had the same as you on start up etc and after a while driving the engine started missing slightly. Eventually it got to a point where I removed each injector electrical injector wiring plug and on No4 cylinder there was no difference in tick-over. Belled the wiring out and proved it was the injector as I was getting the correct voltage as the others and also had continuity. Sourced a refurbished injector off Ebay , fitted it and no further smoke , issues etc.

I recently replaced my 6 injectors, no more than 3 hours work if they are not stuck. I did them myself., but it depend on how fast you are on the spanners.

Do the injectors first... I thought my TCC was going again... then 2 injectors all but failed, had the lot cleaned and 2 repaired.. and when I went for a drive with the recon injectors installed the TCC problem had vanished Thumbs Up
