L405 Deployable Steps

Hi All,
Can anyone give me advice as to whether they are worth the money?
Do you have friends/family members who love them?
Finally, does anyone know a main dealer who is offering a good deal to fit them?
Many thanks,
Tony If it ain't broken, fix it till it is.

It all depends on need really. If you've over about 5' 10" then I would say don't bother. I have them and hate them but having a wife who is 5' 5" and a MIL who is 5' sod all, means they are required.

When I'm using the car solo I turn them off. Oh and it's worth noting they can be problematic as mine are. Apparently there are critical parts which get dirty and have to be cleaned manually, perfect for an all-terrain car.

I have them and I love them as do the whole family. They are only a pain when washing the car if you have the key in your pocket as they keep popping in and out.

Thanks (sorry tried to find your name but failed),
Point taken.
My "control" is 5ft 7"" and hasn't yet complained.
BUT, we're getting older and I just wondered...
I think you've convinced me against...thanks.
Good weekend,

I did consider them for a while but pulled them off my order due mainly to the additional weight as I got the parts fell to weigh them & iirc they were 80KG purely for the steps so with the motors etc. they'd did lot of weight.

Also on the MY17 (may apply to the MY16 too), the suspension drops to it's lowest setting when parking/parked, so entry/exist really isn't a problem unless you've virtually challenged. Paul

I have them and hate the Censored things - as does my 5'3" wife

They have been switched off since soon after we got the car

I guess we all like different things, but as we are both fit and able, getting in and out isn't a problem - but getting hit by a step hurts. Get out too quickly and they get you on the back of your calfs, open the door from the outside and reach in for something and you need to watch your shins

I have them and thought I would hate them, swmbo wanted them,
BUT I really like them, I never use them to get in but they are handy for getting out.
Many people look in amazement at them when in a carpark and many people do comment on how good a feature it is. 2010 defender utility
