Drivers window stuck down at 11pm!!!

Got home at 11pm, reversed onto drive with drivers window half down, parked and it wouldn't raise, so like idiot tried down and it immediately went right down and now is stuck fully down!
Tried fuse 11 ok of course, tried battery disconnect and re-connect ( used to fix things on my BMW) nothing!
If I try lower it you can see interior lights dim slightly with engine off, raise it nothing so I'm guessing it could be "UP" contacts on switch?.
Any ideas?
How does switch panel remove for a look at switch?
Anyone experienced similar?..
Bodged void with cardboard and tape for night, at least not raining yet!
Help🙁

Press and hold the remote lock button down and hopefully it will shut the window. If it doesn't work, release and press and hold again Good luck............. Thumbs Up

Had this 175miles away from home Big Cry

Ended up that the switch module had gone duff Evil or Very Mad

Called out breakdown and when guy arrived worked with him to remove inner panel and then located connector onto motor. then tested the switch to see if the motor was getting power when switch was operated to raise glass - nope, but was good when operated to lower.
He then sorted out a couple of wires with female (or could have been male) crimps on the end. connected them to motor and then other end to a jump pack, which raised the glass into the closed position.

Plenty of 2nd hand switch modules on E bay, but make sure you get a matching one. But for speed I went to Equicar4x4 just the other side of Wolverhampton and picked one up from there, after phoning to see if they had one. Regards
Mark

Thanks for replies,
I did try holding Remote Lock button but that didn't work, will try again this morning.
I don't have a IID tool (yet!)
I'll try another battery disconnect but leave it for 30 mins see if that does anything, failing that its door car
off and investigate further.
Noticed if window was put down after rain it dumped water over the switch assembly as wipers or
cornering swooshed it off windscreen did think that was a good design feature!!!!
Looks like its not an uncommon fault, be dubious about a secondhand replacement in case that failed
quickly but nearly £300 for a new one!!!!!

The switches are dead easy to fix. Get the module off the door, and you'll see how they come apart. Clean up with alcohol or switch cleaner and should be fine. There's not much to them.

update:- Tried battery disconnect, holding remote lock..... nowt!
Removed door card and following another post I found managed get window up with another 12v battery direct to
motor connector with couple wires so at least we are weather tight again Very Happy
Now, do I bite the bullet and get a new switch (tried ring Dan at Duckworths but no answer?) or as Mr Spock says
try and dissemble original one (any link or info Spock?) and attempt a fix/clean? Suppose got nothing to loose as its
no use as it is??? It acted up on Sat but cured itself then failed last night??
thanks for help guys, what would we do without this forum? Rolling Eyes

I had this exact problem, at about the same time in the evening!

To get the window up temporarily if you need to. You will have to swap over the wires that go to the motor! The drivers window the the switch pack is connected to the motor.

Unfortunately you can try and fix it yourself as I did, spent hours on it and had no such luck! You think it's the the switch isn't working, when there's loads more to it than that!

If you decide to look for another one, make sure it's the same spec as yours, I.e powerfold etc, new ones cost around the £300 mark.

Ah I missed that bit sorry, didn't realise you had got the window up! Here are some pictures of the internals:

This is the part under the switches, the switches have little contact pads that touch onto here. I thought thats where my problem was but after spending time with some multimeter, it was nothing to do with the switch itself. Another way to test this is to plug it in and jump the contacts together!

This is the main pcb in the bottom of the switch pack, I'm sure the problem with my fault one was in there as the relay wasn't clicking when the button was pressed!

Had it to pieces and cleaned the contact pads etc as shown in Pic#1 couldn't see any obviously amiss, reassembled and refitted without door card and tried it, put window down an 1" and it raised WOW thought id fixed it, dropped it lower and NO. right down to bottom and stuck again,(now its raining!) Quick get spare battery and apply 12v to motor plug and up she comes, definitely switch assy, think i'll have buy another as my electrical knowledge has expired with cleaning contact pads !!!
Oh for old days Very Happy 2 wires worked most things on a car without circuit boards!!!

Dan is away until the 7th that would probably be why!

Do you have powerfold mirrors? I'll have a look at the part numbers in a bit when I get to work!

Try the Furness car company, they have a Facebook but sell them new and genuine.

Update it looks like yours is different to mine, Rhd with powerfold for your VIN is different... might be worth calling your local dealer to find out if that's the latest part number as LR always Superceede parts!
