TDV8 turning over but won't start

My newly (1 week into ownership) bought 2009 FFRR TDV8 died on my way from work the other day:

Car started normally, drove about 100m: warning water in fuel, looking for a place to pull over but in less than 200m the engine died, tried to start it again nothing happened.

Got hold of a hawkeye and the only code that was logged was:
Fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor circuit range/performance - signal stuck low.

Fuel filter was drained/filled up the normal way, then drained again and then replaced the filter with a new one since I wanted to be sure it wasn't blocked.

New filter fills up so the low pressure pumps seem to be working.

Engine dtc cleared...tried to start...turns over but not starting.
Checked that there's fuel coming out of the shraeder valve on the low pressure side of the fuel system.
read codes again....same code is back.

The local LR workshop is a place to be avoided unless you want to pay 5x the normal LR rate and get really shoddy work done while they're at it.

All fuses are checked, any ideas to what else I can try before having it towed 100miles to the nearest semi decent workshop?

Hey, Sorry to hear of your troubles! My TDv8 is doing the exact same thing, bar the low fuel pressure warning.
I'll be following this thread with interest and If I get to the bottom of my problem I will report back! Thumbs Up

Quality of diesel

I found when I put in the cheapest diesel I could find, it was a struggle sometimes to start.
Not I stick to BP ultimate or shell turbo nitrous utter the dogs Censored diesel, and no problem.

So every few thousand miles I also chuck in some fuel system cleaner.....
Starts easy every time now.

Update: Drove down to the workshop again today, cleared the codes yet again, re-bled the low pressure side again, verified that neither the fuel filter block nor the fuel cooler were blocked.

Cranked the engine: cranks but refuses to start.
Checked the high pressure side: zero fuel pressure or fuel coming to the fuel rail.

I guess that means that the HPF pump is gone?

I would not assume that the HPFP has failed as I expect its pressure to be ecu controlled.

Although with a low pressure fault and no pressure at the rail I think I'd be leaning towards a new pump, they are a common failure point... Thumbs Up Pete

Turned out to be the HPF pump that had decided to call it quits...but not in the normal way...the pulley had come loose somehow, but I replaced the pump with the new as I had already sourced it.
