so I need some rear shocks, and found out that Bilstein make the rear shocks for JLR, ok the search is on

Here is the extract from the L322 Workshop manual: Dampers

The rear dampers are unique to New Range Rover and are of a mono-tube design manufactured by Bilstein.
The mono-tube design has many advantages over conventional twin tube dampers:

are the cheaper ones pattern or fakes, I hope not, I always thought Island 4x4 and British Parts were on the ball, and would not sell anything that was not kosher, but what gives when suppliers charge more than double for the same Part Number

maybe I will get to the bottom of it, but all a bit odd when you see this in the online world we now live in

Not fakes unless they're advertised as Bilstein, just cheaper alternate brands which might be OK for some owners depending on to what extent the shocks get used.

In the OP, all are advertised as Bilstein with the same part number.

It's an interesting question - I have no idea why the prices vary some much for the same part.

It's not unusual to see such differences...

Daughter has a Colt with the auto changing manual box, the clutch actuator went, £1000 from the dealer, £500 from a motor factor, we got one from Germany £200 delivered.

These were all genuine Bosch parts, no one else makes them...!!!

Get the cheapies stick them on and enjoy that first drive it makes a huge difference, may even improve your braking a bit..  Pete

Bought a load of bits off there for the M3 and just ordered some pads for the FF. usually pretty competitive.

They have monroe ones for £43 for a pair.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I am really disappointed with Monroe shocks on my RR, which is why I'm only going to buy Bilstein this time !

it still defies belief how much the pricing is inflated by the big mail order / online companies, just goes to show how messed up the aftermarket industry is, pathetic really - and very sad that a lot of uninformed buyers are getting fleeced !

Just have to do a bit of shopping around.

I’ve never swapped a shock on the Fatties I’ve had yet, but it does always pay to do a bit of research into prices. I managed to get a set of OEM TRW front pads for my 405 for about £40. The LR boxed ones are £230.....and are effectively the same pads. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

more than likely 20 years ago, when the L322 was originally being assembled

but I think Bilstein are supplying shocks for later models now - that's what the workshop manual says anyway
