Not an air suspension inactive thread - honest!

No, it's a thread about the dangers of overloading your crane.

Incidentally, while I'm in the technical section, I recently had an air suspension inactive message, which when cleared by the IID tool comes back after driving 100m or so, then the lights go out on the display.

I cleared the message and then raised the car. It went up fine but took ages for the light saying 'raised' to stop blinking. When I lowered it, the car did go down, but the middle light indicating it's at normal height didn't stop blinking.

I'm thinking that there's clearly nothing wrong with the compressor or the airbags as it goes up and down fine, so there must be a problem with a sensor - but which?

All replies from grateful crane operators, or anyone else for that matter, gladly received!

Sorry I have no crane operator experience ...

But as luck would have it I had the same fault on my RR. In my case was caused by faulty ride height sensor (easier to spot on mine due to the flashing red lines on the 4x4 info screen). If i remember correctly the sensors work in diagonal pairs and based on the difference in values between the two sensors the system can work out where the axle height is in relation to the other wheels. If a sensor goes wrong the values go outside the acceptable range and the system cries and sulks. I could reset mine and it could be fine for days even weeks until I drove over some terrain that pushed the sensors towards their upper limits ie large kerb, pothole etc and then the fault would occur again. 2008 TDV8

Yep, as said it's a height sensor, live values should show which one, I've had all mine fail in the last year so if I were you I'd change the lot.... and don't buy pattern, they don't have a metal insert for the bolts that hold them on so you are threading into plastic...!!! Thumbs Up Pete

I'll have a look at the live values (didn't know you could), but think I'll take your advice and do them all.

Will do a search on recalibrating....

These are the live values. Front left moved between 22 and 24 that's all, even when braking and turning right so I think that's the dead one.

Anyone know of a guide on recalibration - I've had a search round but can't find one?
