Hey Tom - not so great news unfortunately, after sorting out a height sensor - the first one I've had to do in 105k(!) the front airbag then failed a couple of days later and she is parked up in the top yard waiting time to do it. I have a feeling though this is probably it - the rust on my rear arches is pretty bad and there still seems to be a fairly hefty oil leak somewhere at the front.

Thanks for the update Nick. The most important thing is that you still have it. These older Range Rovers seem to have a way of avoiding the end.

Hi Nick, great post! I see you're based near Newcastle Emlyn. I live in the area and am looking for a good indie LR mechanic for MY12 Vogue. Can you recommend anyone? |

So I guess now is the time to wrap this thread up - hadn't appreciated how long its been since I last updated and thanks for all the messages!
The VSE never got replaced - prices still a bit mad. I was running rental cars most of last year but around the summer it became more and more challenging to source them at the right time in the right location due to the ongoing supply issues that even the rental car companies were having. I kept shopping for a replacement L405 but nothing that came up was sensibly priced or floated my boat. In the end I bought a 2018 Discovery 5 TD6 which I am really happy with. I enjoyed the one i had during lockdown as a Landrover Assistance courtesy car and whilst it isn't as luxurious or as fast as the VSE its comfortable and safe. Having bought a new Ford Ranger Wildtrak last year and still running the absolutely gorgeous and quick Mustang Bullitt I think I've ended up with a pretty good selection of cars. I expect in 18 months time I Will be back in a L405 but you never know.
