Blue/Grey Vaccum hose to EGR access

Hi, I am having an error code on my iidtool BT, it is leading to a vacuum leak some where.

P0401-20 extended fault path exhaust gas recirculation governor deviation - negative deviation

I have noticed my fuel consumption is starting to increase, presently sitting at 11.5 litres per 100 kms.

I think the culprit is the egr vacuum hose the grey /blue traced one. It is not split art the EGR end, and I would like to check it fully along it's length, but is disappears along the side of the engine and doesn't appear to be accessible. I took a torch and mirror to it trying to see its end connection to the valve
I think I need to remove the plastic intake assembly to get better access to it , is that correct?

Thanks in advance

If I recall, the vacuum pipe to the egr comes from the main vacuum unit on the left hand side as you look at it from the front. Then weaves its way to the front, over the engine and down through the intake manifold to the egr.
now, if you still have your egr working, first job is disconnect it, bung the hose up and replace with egr delete kit, you wont regret it.
the egr is the easiest of the vacuum pipes to get at. You will need to take the very front cover off the engine, to reveal the egr, but I guess you already know that.
Hope it helps.

Just another thought, you may be getting that fault code if you already have an egr delete, as I have a common fault on the egr, and mines deleted.
Can't remember what the fault code is. How long have you had the ff.?.

Hi Greg, thanks for the response, Yes I have the EGR removed and a blanking kit fitted. the fault appeared after I did the EGR blank. Fuel consumption is slowly increasing since then.

So I may be looking at the wrong side of the engine if you say it crosses over the top of the engine to the main vacuum unit .
I did unplug the hose from where it used to fit on the original EGR and can suck and blow air through it, so unsure if it is meant to be open to that or whether it is supposed to be closed when engine is off.
Will have a look at the left hand side ( looking at engine and see if I can locate that hose's end.
Thanks

Hi , yes you are looking for a black plastic type cylinder shape item just behind the big black box that houses all the electric ecu's etc.
on the engine side, there are 3 vacuum hoses iirc 1 to egr and 2 for the engine mount dampers.
don't think you should be able to suck or blow through the tube, as it is supposed to be under vacuum.
Your mpg will be better removing the egr, and the engine will breath a lot better.
you could blank the pipe at the source of the vacuum if needed, one less pipe to worry about. I'm sure the fault code is related to the egr as it's supposed to be there, and not registering as such.
Hope it helps. Wink

Thanks Greg, that gives me something to go on and check.

I just had a look at RAVE and it lists that part you mention behind the ECU box as the BOOST CONTROL SOLENOID.

but on the right hand side looking at the engine and out of view under the inlet manifold is the EGR modulator, number 4 on diagram, so this must be where that blue hoses runs to as it goes to that location. and would involve removing the inlet manifold

cheers.

Update: The blue/grey vacuum hose from the EGR has and holds vacuum when the engine is running, so that eliminate that hose as a leak.
The engine on idle has a slight vibration, you feel it sitting in the drivers seat, hard to describe but like a faint humming vibration.
