England 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
l322 inner door handle surrounds

Anyone ever painted theirs? Mine are looking tired after 14 years and paint is beginning to part company with the plastic. Thinking about using paint stripper to remove the old coating then buffing up the black plastic underneath or simply re -spraying them the greyish colour. Any hints or tips much appreciated - don't want to go down the stick on covers route as the handles I did looked naff.

You will have to remove every last trace of the silver, it will not let anything stick to it, not even wrapping works unless all the silver has gone, paint will just fall off. If you use paint stripper you will damage the plastic, you have to sand off all the finish, the plastic then becomes hairy so you have to use finer and finer grit paper until it is smooth and flat...

It is a pig of a job and all four handle surrounds will probably take a whole day to sand, after you have removed them... Pete

There's a thread on this somewhere here. I have yet to do mine. Ron B. VK2OTC
