Electric thermostat fault will not affect the heating.. I would take off the plug on top of the thermostat housing, under the pipe that goes to the plenum at the front of the engine, the thermostats can leak coolant into the plug and corrode and then seep up the wire and into the engine ECU and wreck it (I know it sounds far fetched but it does happen) If it is leaking then it's a new thermostat job...
Heating is probably a faulty motor for the blend flap, an IID tool and some other diagnostic tools will read the fault and also interrogate the system to check what does and doesn't work... Pete
