Subwoofer upgrade

Hi all - just wanted to share my experiences ... when I got the ff the subwoofer was blown.. like
A genius I thought I'd upgrade with a hk one ... it's sounds all wrong I imagine due to different imprudence etc...

I didn't want to buy anything else as I had a shed full of old bits (about 10yrs old!)

I dug out a 300wrms infitiy reference amp with high level inputs and a jl audio 10w3 subwoofer...

Firstly... where do I hide it all??!

Ok so I removed the old sub - and mounted the amp here take a nice 12v and ground from the fuse box, I also found an ignition live for the remote.

Next the sub... I left it in the box it was in but it was not looking right so I set about a new plan ... converting the fuse cover into a speaker box...

I cut some wood to make a front and bottom and the put a ton of reading and fibreglass on it. I then cut the holes for the sub and wire and then carpeted grey (sadly green couldn't be found anywhere!)

I calculated the volume and it was only 66% of jls recommended size so I packed it with foam to aid this.

I put it all back together and all in all I'm very please with the result - it's a very punchy sub and can handle the rumbles fairly well too.

If anyone else undertake this under where that panel goes there is more space so you could possibly make a funny box to go there as well.

The best thing is I left the handle intact so if it need to access fuses I just pull and voila sub out. It's very tight fitting no vibrations etc.

Take a look
