Has the work shop used it before, on a FF?
Have you got trans symptoms?
Milage is up on the fluid?

Personally I am using a Liqi Moly product that meets the BMW spec for the same reason you are looking at this product......its cheaper. This doesnt equate to lesser quality as far as Im concerned, research the fluid.
I have had a pretty quick look and the Shell product meets ZF specs as do many other fluids.
You will get plenty of opinions on this subject for sure.
In an ideal world we would use the FF/BMW product but its over the top on price.

Have a look at this page and a few others and make up your own mind.

ABSOLUTELY I wouldnt use anything that doesnt have the LT 71141 spec and I wouldnt use a no name equivalent either.

Im just a bit suspicious of that label.
Dexron III ?
ZF 6HP ?

Im pretty certain it cant be correct for such a wide range of Transmission fluid types.

Just because it is red (ish) doesnt mean its the wrong fluid spec.
As I previously said I use Liqui Moly Top Tech 1200........it is a reddish colour. It doesnt look like Dexron II or III though.
Drop the pan if you are really concerned, take a look at the magnets.
How dark is the fluid.........ie how much friction material is in it?
If the fluid is only a year old and the milage is low things might not be so bad as you have a new trans you say.

If it is the incorrect fluid the problem is getting it out, power flush is the only way to get a full change without a trans, cooler, TC removal.
Dropping the pan and leaving it sit over night might see 4.5L drain out.

I would pull the Pan and cooler hoses......drain.
Refit the pan, refill, and pump the TC out as you pump more fluid into the trans while running.....leaving the cooler delivery line off until you see the fluid change colour. You are going to need a helper..........or get a work shop to do it for you.

Just draining the pan only gets roughly a 1/3 of the fluid out, I have done this 3 times now and im happy enough with my fluid, one more go in 6 months will see over 90% of the old fluid gone and from there on I will just do a yearly service.

Its a bitch isnt it........this is why I dont let anyone work on my vehicles.

If you have taken 7 litres out the thats pretty damn good. Was the trans over filled?

One more drain like that and a half change should see you pretty well right.
That furry stuff on the magnets is mostly metal, its pretty normal over a lifetime for the trans, probably not in less than a year though.
Get the next drain done as soon as you can.

Any change in trans operation?

If you are doing another drain, if available you could drop some Dr tranny in, it works miracles.
But if your friction plates are gone it wont work.
There wasnt too much swarf on your magnets.
The trans might need its brain reset......adaptive values the trans will have been trying to adjust its self to compensate for the incorrect fluid.
Either that or the TC is shot.......was that replaced when the trans was rebuilt?

Grab some of this stuff;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lubegard-Dr-Tra...Sw7PBTok~z

I have used it in TH400 and TH350, Trimatics over the years.......it works wonders.

The adaptive values in the brain for your trans might be the issue you have now, I have no idea how you reset them, I do recal reading something on the forum about it some time ago.
