Unless you're 9 feet tall you will need a step ladder to get up to it

Sad as it may seem it will only get very minor use.

For skiing trips.
Mainly for 'the look'
Not sure yet. 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

Do you need a full on roof rack or will roof bars do?

LR do bars or they do roof rails with cross bars.

Roof rails cause extra slipstream drag and higher fuel consumption plus a lot of wind noise

I have roof rails, they are fixed then you just clip the bars into them when needed. The problem with a full rack is the noise and mpg loss.

Rails are fitted lengthways so have no effect on aerodynamics as the leading edge is so small it keeps Frontal Pressure to a minimum also as they are one solid piece you get no Flow Detachment,

The problem comes when you fit crossbars as these cause significant turbulence, this is what causes the noise. As a result of the turbulence and frontal pressure this increases your Drag Coefficient, this is what reduces your MPG.

Jem, yes indeed somewhere on this forum - a picture taken last winter in the alps.
I believe it's under my gallery. Do you want close up of how they fit?.

Looks good David.

Still think I want the full Rack look.

Will take the plunge. What's the worst that can happen.

Apart from a kicking from Mrs Jem. 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

For the amount of use it i'm happy. Fortunate thing was i already had the attachments, ski rack load stops etc etc.
Did look into the full rack system but decided against it when i found i had to 'cut' the covers off. The sports bars were unavailable over here at the time, well more out of stock.
Good luck which ever way you go.
