Replace EGRs at the same time as turbos?

I've a '07 Vogue (130k miles) and the turbo just went pop, I'll probably put it in a garage to get them replaced, cheapest I've found is £3.5k Big Cry but it needs to be done and i don;t have the space/time to do myself.

I've read the EGR can trash a turbo, don't know what the cause for failure is, but should I get the EGRs replaced whilst they are replacing the turbos as they have it in bits anyway so 'minimal' cost, or should I keep the ones I have and do it myself one weekend, there's a good write up in this forum and it doesn't look to difficult?

And I'm not thinking of any blanking or mapping out of the EGR.

People on here have done that. I'm a bit confused about how the EGRs affect the turbo. All it really does is essentially let some of the exhaust that's already been through the turbo, travel (Via the EGR) to the top of the motor and to the intake manifold. But I'm no mechanic. ______________________________
