To add to the confusion, the electric circuit diagram only shows 5 connections for this plug ! pin 5 the i-bus wire, pins 8,9,17 and 18 the pre amp wires from the BM54 unit . The four wires not shown appear to be for the telephone . The workshop manual states they are for Telephone audio negative,Telephone audio positive, and Telephone on.The 9th wire is shown on the BMW forums as "telephone mute". |

Now if I only had the colours of those 4 telephone wires to make sure I get them right ! |

Can you wait an hour or so whilst I go and scribble down the colours for you? Don't risk mis-connecting, 'cos if you stick 12V up what is intended to be a TTL input you may cause damage. |

I now realise where I was going wrong ! I was reading the pinout diagram upside down thinking they were showing the pins on the dsp when actually they are showing looking at the plug from underneath . (if that makes sense !)And therefore the i-bus wire was in the pin opposite , and thats why i can't get the dsp to show up on the screen !! Once I get the connector sorted I will let you know if i get my sound back.Incidentally, I have obtained a spare Dsp out of an X5 2004 model. Will I need to get it programmed for the L322 ? either way I got an auction bargain ! A DSP , a six CDchanger, a ULF module with passkey 7th gen., a subwoofer , all for £10 !!! |

All sorted ! Wires correctly pinned out as per your photos zulu 10, and X5 dsp fitted, just in time for my trip to Barmouth in Wales on saturday morning ! Unfortunately I had to turn the music off halfway as my wife couldn't stand the "trance " music bellowing out ! Ah well ! By the way Zulu 10, can you supply your christian name as I write articles for the Range Rover Register club magazine and I would like to mention your help in my next one. Cheers, Bob |

Glad it works Bob, as now does my iPod and touchscreen install. There's honestly no need to mention me in your magazine, but if it pleases you then, in the words of Paul Simon, you can call me Al. |
