Tailgate trim removal

My tailgate strike plate is loose. How do I get the plastic fixture plugs/screws/thingys out of the trim to get at the strike plate screws?
I've tried searching and the web and the best I git was tricky and time consuming. Before I rip them out is there a way to save them?

All done before I could finish a cup of tea.

Wonder how much that would have cost at a green oval?

Yes indeed, however at my age you take things slow and steady.
