Does the front of the dash move if you try to lift it, it slides back on and the screws stop it moving, but you can miss the clips that locate it and get the screws in, if you can lift the front edge at all then it needs refitting....

My side steps are a lot worse than that! MOT on Monday so will have to do some fixing to avoid "dangerous bodywork"! .

If its a LR factory / dealer fit step....The side steps are in three pieces. The metal frame that hangs off the car, the rubber step and the lower silver plastic trim.

There could be mud/debris under the rubber which will peel back to check, or the small screws that hold that piece of plastic trim on are missing or corroded. Or as above it might just be kna ed. |

Most likely the small ferrous screws have corroded and fallen away .

Had a good look at side steps this morning, and performed a bodge repair (they will be coming off soon for some body work repairs, so will probably replace, so this was to stop them falling off altogether!)
