Mk4 nav issues?

So I didn't bother posting on here as it was pretty much a non event but about 10 days ago on gumtree I spotted a mk4 nav unit dvd from an mg... Slight fault was it took ages to read the disc. I had this issue in my m5 and changed the laser which was easier than it sounds.

Anyway been living with it since then and today I thought I'd upgrade the firmware... So I pressed eject... Nothing came out... Held it for 3-4 mins until light went out be pressed again... Nothing... Did this about ten times. Then I unplugged and pressed eject imidiately... No dice... Did it a couple of time and gave up.

Got in the car and nothing was on the screen and notice the drive wasn't powered up... Now I notice it only gets power when I press eject? So I have wedged eject with a tooth pic and it's fire up but now I can't eject the disc for sure as it need it in to power it up and then I have this new power issue???

Any ideas id probably go for either fix first as I can work around the other ideally a fix for both issues or a way to manually remove the disc?

Thanks

Disconnect the battery on both terminals and have both leads touching each other. I did this on my ff and left it for about 3 mins.
Make sure the leads do not come in contact with the battery terminals. This is very important.
This will errectify a number of issues. It worked for me in this car and my previous Bmw.

Disc out - issue not resolved... did some research and no one really has a fix - i then found someone who thought it was the ram damaged due to a sudden power loss and its shot then, but then i put it back in and it worked fine for 5 mins then died again so not sure if i buy that :/
