Take a look at this, I know I'm comparing apples & pears but it's frightening what high milers are fetching now - I'm almost tempted, with a new gearbox & head too. Just wonder why it's had the new pump & head!

Agreed but these high mileage cars do sell and current prices are just a little silly so I am trying to get a feel for who might want a high mileage TDV8 at lower than market prices... |

In an ideal world yes Vogue but the worlds gome mad with snow fever and I saw an £80k 2007 go for £27k at auction today....you figure. The crazy current prices being the reason for this thread. |

Still got the 300c but my daily winter driver is now the 2006 MY Vogue SE Supercharged in Buckingham/Jet/Piano. It drives like new and I love the engine and am being slowly converted from my previous love the TDV8... |

Yes but a 2002 Vogue V8 with 100k would not fetch a lot at auction either! about £9k |

Yes/Yes/Yes Mileage is no indication of what a vehicle has done or has left in it for the future. In one way I wish we would go with KM's like everywhere else in the world cos those numbers then become irrelevant. 100k becomes 160k or, if you prefer, 100,000KM becomes 62000 miles. Is a car finished at 62000? Maybe for those who have such motors as a bit of posh but mine is my daily driver and it is expected to work for its living. The caveat I would attach is the supplying dealer makes a massive difference. If it's out of LR warranty I want the dealer to take a pragmatic view on the bits which he could reasonable have been expected to find at inspection. (mine does) But, some examples of cars past. Merc E270 Estate. 351k when sold. Vauxhall Carlton Estate. 3.0. 416k when sold Vauxhall Astra SXI Estate. 230k when sold. All were still OK and drove very nicely. All I ever do servicing wise is use the main agent or an approved Indy. All servicing gets done on time and all other matters are attended to rather than being left. I do look after them but don't molly-coddle them. 100k on a TDV8 is nothing to worry about for me. It's the bits which go with that like suspension bushes etc. I would want a dealer guarantee on the mechanical stuff that aftermarket warranties don't cover. Like I said, my dealer does this, mainly because he knows I won't buy cars from him unless he does. To be honest, I would be far more wary of a 2 year old car with 15k on it. Never been used, spent half its running life with a cold engine, lots more room for seized suspension bits etc. 15-20k per year with FSH is no issue at all. 20-40k per year with FSH would be OK for a reduced price and subject to a full inspection beforehand. |
