ok, so driving along today and glance down...my binnacle display has turned into French ...very bizarre...no idea which buttons ive pressed !

anyone know how to get it back to English? cheers

Hi - I can't confirm the setting (as I'm not with the car) but it is accessed via the Screen display on your sat nav. (assuming you have this)

Go into the menu and look for the language setting. you should have GB highlightedand it should update the dash consol. Ash

tried poking around the nav interface (which is still English) and disconnect battery...but the pod display is still in French

I guess I will have to wait until it goes in next for a service...its not a big deal cheers

found this , hope it helps.
in the main screen, choose set. when in the set menu, press and hold the 'menu' button for 6-8 seconds,a new set of service commands will appear, scroll down to choose the language setting. ... - .- -.

cheers...that does take you into config, but its for the nav unit rather than the car itself

in the workshop manual to change language it says I need to use Test book ...but I cant figure out why it changed itself in the first place whilst im driving along ! LOL  cheers

Its via the nav - I can confirm as a nice garage (sic) in Spain reset it to French after a visit (as it is a French car - what logic!). Cleared via the nav screen and now is happily "speaking" the queens english

yeah, you can change the nav language via the nav settings

this is the instrument binnacle - below the speedo etc where you can program time/mileage/consumption etc

that has changed to French ...the nav itself is fine, all normal in English

its the vehicle language thats changed, and according the workshop manual, needs to be changed by Testbook software

whats puzzling is just how it changed itself at random during a journey....

will get it looked at next service, im in no rush...it might change itself back before then anyway LOL  cheers

just a thought..the button you press [on the stalk] when you go from one reading to another, if you keep that button depressed for a few seconds ,does it go to a menu select screen on the nav, if so is there something that can be selected there... ... - .- -.

yep, that goes to "prog" where you can select all the values you may/may not want to see....but not the bleeding language its in

ive been looking everywhere for some button combo press that may do it, but even google doesent have the answer cheers

Bit of a thread resurrection going on here but it might be useful to someone.

I've got the mk4 navigation unit fitted and I upgraded the disk to sw version 4-1/01.
anyway, this comes with speed camera alerts which is useful when I'm in unfamiliar territory but annoying around my home area. I turned this feature off and all the binnicle messages changed to French.

Once reinstated I'm back to reading the Queens English, hooray.

also, the menu has 'memo'. Once activated it sets a beeper / alarm off at 1959hrs, whoopy
