After 12 months of deliberation, I bit the bullet to order a Autobiography SDV8 in Waitamo Grey, black/black leather with a bunch off extras including 1700W Meridian, electrically deployable towbar, heads-up, traffic sign recognition and adaptive xenons. Beautiful car...

BUT
- it arrived with leather steering wheel not wood/leather (dealer error and fixed)
- bonnet not latching properly (dealer now adjusted)
- problem with rear seat recline (dealer reset/resolved)
- a fuzzy black background screen on the camera page (possibly a broader issue? But no joy from JLR yet - anybody else have this issue?)
- no adaptive headlights (confirmed as a factory misbuild)

I have been offered a new car (probably May) or asked what Land Rover could offer to compensate as the lights can't be changed.

Welcome your advice... My previous vehicle had adaptive lights and I really like them and I spent ages choosing my exact spec. (I drive 25,000 a year and a fair bit at night) but clearly everything has a price. Alistair. I fear you are right ... As I said to the dealer, it's not really about wanting a discount, more about the car I wanted having spent months choosing colours/options. My gut is to reject especially given the unresolved screen issue

Ajac8 and Paul. That is a good suggestion about asking to keep it until car replaced. Might also get them to get a move on building a new one. Would also be a 16 plate rather than 65. Similar issue although not as bad.. Was called by dealer on night of collection(from factory) their auto biography demo ready for use in morning for continuing use whilst mine was put right. Didn't ask for anything but my car.. Was given meal for two my choice of venue, tickets for rugby match free 1st service and daughter has ordered evoque due to virtual trade price.
So decide what you want... Jlr were helpful!

i think you all confirm my gut instinct: to ask for new one. If I can keep the existing one that makes that decision easier. Then I have no regrets. It seems from this site and talking to others that provision of a comparable vehicle in the intervening period is usual. (Thanks modbarra for your experience).

I agree, new car with out doubt.

There is but one thing to think about. With the the new car we are all thinking that it will come with no niggles, or quirks. Further down the months, years, you will encounter issues, and questions/doubts and postings on here for solutions etc, and in your head, you might wonder how the original one would be fairing up, as I'm pretty sure it's running fine at present, and it seems it's only the headlights issue that is the root problem....but we have all wondered how a previous car we owned is fairing up.
But you will I guess, be getting another brand new car........

It's interesting to hear of some folk who run into every possible problem with their car and others who have nothing but routine maintenance. I think you already have enough clues that this was made on an "off day". My 2p would be a new one. As others have already said, keeping the current one until the new one is ready would be the best if both worked. Good luck.

Thanks for all your thoughts ... Really appreciated. At one level a first world problem but having paid my money keen to get it sorted one way or another. And I tend to keep my cars. Looking like I will keep mine until a replacement built but not yet confirmed...

Have an opportunity to think of any missing options. Mine has 1700w Meridian (totally recommend it), HUD, traffic sign recognition, electric deployable tow bar, large washer bottle, panoramic opening roof, wood/leather steering, active locking diff (die hard Land Rover nut rather than real need), privacy, full size spare. Oh and this time should come correctly fitted with the adaptive headlights. It's an SDV8 ATB Waitamo with black/black leather and black leather roof. I know others would prefer a lighter cabin but I really like it...

Anything you guys have you really like I should consider??

That's a great spec. There can't be anything much you won't already have.

I specified Homelink on my car - you can program 3 remote controls into it for electric gates, garage door, etc. I find it useful.

Otherwise you will soon have another fantastic car.
