So, yesterday, left work with the auto wipers on, it was raining, they worked, but occasionally parked diagonally across the screen...

I had something similar towards the end of last year although in addition to the erratic behaviour, the wipers stopped working completely after a while until I turned the engine off and on. Not ideal in the rain!

I had the same problem, then remembered I'd left my spare sarnies under the bonnet and they had got in the way of the wiper motor.... Most people won't understand this but you know what I mean Mark.... Pete

So.... How would a dodgy wiper motor make it do 4 or 5 wipes instead of just the single one when you press the stalk down? Some type or short for the same time?

It's got a circular section with different sized tracks around it to let the motor know where in the arc the wipers are, I would imagine if this was worn or damaged then it could miss reading where it was and carry on for several more wipes before it found itself again....

Similar, initial behaviour last year, which quickly worsened - likewise, new wiper motor |

So.... I'm guessing the little micro switch is the cause here, as they have been fine since the motor swap.....
