Mine will be on 20 inch rims and road tyres. It goes well enough. Thumbs Up

So, as mentioned on another thread...

Who would be up for a FFRR day of offroading on the byways of Salisbury Plain?

No silly stuff, winching out, better bring your Defender etc...
More a chance to go offroad and use the FFRR in unmodified standard form.

Spring 2011

EDIT:
Signing up isses now sorted by Martin. Thumbs Up

I'm up for this plus have a mate in a shiny new white Cayenne diesel whihc might be interesting to compare as he's up for a laugh and would likely give it as good as it gets Smile

Hoping to have some 19" wheels in the next day or so too so I'll have the opportunity to get something a little more aggressive fitted for mudplugging fun.

To me, the whole point of this day is for forum mebers to see what a FFRR can do on road tyres and not damage the vehicle. So it'll be not be over the top and should be no problem unless people go crazy.

To anyone that does not want to risk thier pride and joy... what about coming as a passenger and then thinking about bringing the FFRR next time.
At least you get to meet the others and put a face to the name. Thumbs Up

Personally, I would be wary of inviting others. We should have more than enough for this and it's a day for the forum mebers in the south to get together.
We don't want to turn it into a compare the 4x4 or a bring your Defender day, as that's when people tend to get carried away. We'll also end up with a huge number of people and it will become unmanagable.
I have a mate who lives right on the edge of Salisbury Plain, but I certainly won't be inviting him and his Volvo XC90.

Why? - what is stopping you, or someone else, organising a similar day up North just as Fox appears to, very kindly, be doing for us down here.

He only posted the idea this morning and has already had strong support from the rest of us
(including James and Jez from Lookers Park Royal) Thumbs Up

Maybe a LR dealership near you could offer a little support for your cause?

Late in March or April was looking preferable, would make sense to wait for the worst of the weather to be over.

I'll check when the Easter school holiday is tomorrow and come up with a provisional date.
Makes sense to miss the Easter weekend as people have things on, plus a Sunday in the middle of a bank holiday weekend would tie people up too much.

Maybe SHMBO can do her thing and you can do yours. Thumbs Up

I will look into it; but have no idea where to start. I think fox has a lot more off road experience than me. Doesn't seem to be so many active members from up this way. I have been lurking on disco3 but their events seem to a bit paintwork unfriendly and really need mud tyres. Apologies if i've posted this on my phone and it contains strange spelling and punctuation.. i just can't be bothered to correct it Very Happy

3rd of April she has me booked to drive the safety car for a 10k race / fun run and the 24th is her birthday. The 10k is entirely off road, so I will enjoy taking the FFRR around the county park, although this year we may borrow a car from the local BMW dealership who are one if the race sponsors.

So if it's any other dates I will be joining you, if not put my name down for the next outing.

Cheers
