We went into John Lewis in Birmingham yesterday. I saw an OLED curved 55" 4K TV on offer. It was a great looking TV and a fantastic picture. Turns out it was a customer return and the RRP was £2500. It had reduced to £2100. A quick Google search showed that this TV was now £1999 everywhere else so I mentioned this to the staff. The manager came out and said he could do the TV for £1599. He said it would still have a five year warranty and a 28 day returns policy if we didn't like it.

re 4k, most 4k sets upgrade the source feed to near 4k resolution, some do it better than others so you get a slightly better pic than HD.... ... - .- -.

I'm actually still happy with them - I have 3 x 50's and a 42 - along with a waterproof one in the bathroom, I spent over £15k on them in one go

I was a little behind you guys but can claim the 60" Pioneer Kuro £8k new, regarded as the best tv ever made. it's mated up to a Bose Lifestyle system but I can say just wait as Bose 4k systems are on the horizon give it two years and we will have true 4k an 5:1 sound thru the same system hold on to your debit card just now for mebbies two years at the moment Bose are fracking around with lofi shizzle pretending to be hifi |

As I hardly ever go into shops these days, I'm always drawn to th TV department in typical department stores, and often talk to the guys in that department. I've always been a 'big TV fan, and am waiting for our 2007 Samsung plasma to blow up, to give the green light. I've seen some fads pass me by, like 3D and 1st gen LED and 100hz type boasts, but wanting to go up to 65 inch on our upgrade, I'm often told that these curved tv's are the best experience. I can't agree, I think it's an 'emporers new clothes' trick. Ours will be on a flat wall, we both sit around 30 degrees off the perpendicular, so we won't get the 'wraparound' experience, and, just like all fads, they come and go. And the classic style is always right. Just like a white bathroom suite, round dinner plates, plain carpets, fm radios, and analogue watches. The curved screen to me will be pointed at in 5 years time, as a gimmick. Maybe by then, they will curve the OTHER WAY, so nobody misses anything, whilst drawing the curtains!
