After 3 weeks of thoroughly enjoyable ownership of my first FFRR (TDV8 2007MY) I am slowly learning all the little noises that come with it.

I have found when cruising on the motorway whilst maintaing a fairly constant speed (not accelerating) and the revs are sitting between 1900rpm and 2500rpm the engine takes on a slightly noisier and definitely noticeable tone/hum - this has nothing to do with gear changes or acceleration.

If you momentarily take your foot off the accelerator within this range the tone/hum stops even though the revs and speed dont really drop - the tone/hum returns as soon as you reapply your foot and a little bit of power. Under 1900rpm the engine is very silent and over @2500rpm although obviously there is more engine noise it does not have the same tone/hum.

I have checked this in manual mode and it seems to happen in all the gears.

Is this normal?

My experience is that it comes and goes depending on the wind !!! I kid you not !!! I think mine is wind noise.

Not had it for weeks until yesterday with speed set at 100km , motorway turned a corner and it went. It did sound very gearbox like at first or even wheel bearing BUT as you say the box works fine, its not on one gear etc

will just have to turn up the radio and then get irritated by a buzzing speaker

angus, buzzing speaker may be caused by corrosion on the pins in the connector to the amp in the rear left of the boot. I had that and took out the connecting wires on the amp, brushed them off and buzzing stopped! Be very careful if cleaning as the little male prongs are very delicate.

I think my buzzing might be a loose speaker housing vibrating or the sound making something else nearby vibrate
