This is a known problem with your era gearbox, same with Jags. If I remember correctly (but feel free to check with RRPhil) it was a software update. So you could check with Gap Diagnostics whether the IID tool can update that software. I know the Faultmate can (since I have one and did do various software upgrades with it, including the gearbox).

Clearing the adaptations is a risky thing, if the box has covered quite a few miles then there will be a degree of wear so it could actually make the box worse, as a few have found. There is a software update available from Land Rover, and this along with an oil change can help if not totally eliminate it.

Yes you can update the gearbox software on the 4.2SC using the IID tool. I did it on mine a few weeks ago, nice an easy. |

For those interested; I took the FFRR to the agents, explained the story and asked if they would hook it up. The kind foreman obliged, (No Charge) came back with an upgraded vehicle, the relevant codes are as follows(scan below) I've only done 60 odd km's, but smooth as silk, so happy |
