I'm not sure if this subject has been covered, if so my apologies in advance.

I'm the proud owner (recently) of a 2008 58 FFRR, and would like to put a hoist in the boot to lift about 160kg of disability scooter.
I've contacted the manufacturer of "The Olympian Scooter and wheelchair hoist for mobility devices weighing up to 200kg" in Derbyshire who advise that their products are unsuitable for my Vogue as it has a tailgate.

I have to add that the young lady who took information from me (my having resisted her insistence in sending a sales demonstrator here) and that I was at this stage doing a feasibility study and costing, lovely as she was I don't think she was the brightest bulb in the box

I appreciate that this would need to extend the boom on the hoist to it's maximum thereby putting quite a load on it, but I'm sure I've seem a photograph on here?? of a lighter load one 80kg SWL I think.

Could I ask for help from members of the forum on this subject.

I did see on Ebay a chap in Stoke not too far from Greg who sold these things second hand, I have limited mobility and can't get to hospital appointments due to shortage of porters/wheelchairs there and xyl (wifey) can't push me (abdo' ops herself).

A catch 22 situation!

Hi Trumpton dave, I understand where you are coming from re the disability hoist.
I sourced the hoist from a chap called trevor aldridge, he goes by the name of lomstoke on ebay.
I have to get in touch with him soon, as my wife is having a new power chair, and it is heavier than the original one we have.
I will need a lifting capacity of 120 kgs approx.
this chap is absolutely superb to talk to, he knows your needs as he has a disabled daughter.
I am sure if you get in touch he will be delighted to help you.
I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here, as this is quite a niche market, and not too many want to undertake the work or maybe shop around.
I did all the brackets myself, after trevor explained what was the most important, and have been very happy for nearly 2 years now.
Also noticed on ebay, there is a company in coalville leics, who have been advertising on ebay, second hand mobility hoists, along with a fitting service, they maybe a lot closer for you.
the only downside is, you will have to see your pride and joy butchered a little
but hayho that's worst part, the upside is you travel in extreme comfort, and you are still able to get around.

Sorry my bad , the company offering the fitting service is shepshed leics, the ebay user name is sop0211.
they currently have several lifts for sale one is 150 kgs and a fitting service if required, I have no personal relationship with these people, just trying to help on what I have researched myself. The big companies that supply and fit these lifts don't want to tell you a great deal about fitment etc, but there are some second hand dealer people who will.
as a new member you probably already know, this forum along with the members amd moderators will be invaluable to you as a ffrr owner, the information is second to none along with wiki and how to's.
if it wasn't for the forum I don't think I would have owned my ffrr, a really good bunch

Had a 140 mile drive via the Conwy Valley to Llandudno yesterday, mixed driving speed and conditions at a returned 23.2mpg (tank full to tank full), very impressed I'll have to be very careful it gets to warp factor 9.5 in parsecs LOL.

I concur whole heartedly with your sentiments about this site, it's truly amazing, It's daft o'clock as you'll see from the posting time, my chest has been giving me a bit of gyp, to say nothing of the Antibiotics and Corticosteroids and it's either a feast or a famine....so rather than waste time, I thought I'd do some brushing up knowledge wise on the beautiful beast recently bought.

I had bought (OEM) workshop manuals for each of the previous vehicles, P6, P69B, SD1, SIII's & 2.5TD Land Rovers, each of which I'd let go with the cars/LR's but to see one on the PC screen.....fantastico.

Wife of 40 years come August (we met 45 years yesterday, my having returned to the Northwest from Penzance via Padstow and the Beltaine celebrations....they call that work LOL) (Oh to be 20 again LOL)) has just woke and made a brew so I'll sign off.

Thanks for the pointer dave, but I'll be using Trevor as he's not too far from me, if anything goes wrong he's not too far away.
I've got a sneaky suspicion the rigid part, fixed to the car, is the same on all models upto 150 kgs, so I might just need a new lifting arm.
I will talk to Trevor about it.
