The flashing red light indicates your car phone isn't connecting to a phone network. I had the same until I plugged a full size SIM card into the slot under the handset. It needs to be a SIM from a GSM / 2G network. I did that last week, I bought a cheap SIM and a low cost 365-day recharge.

Thanks mate, I'm going to check all the connections in the rear N/S panel and give them all a clean, hopefully that will mean the box in the back gets power.

That is the antenna for a bluetooth module. If you have a bluetooth module fitted it should be in the LHR cubby at the front on the left as you look at it, below and to the left of the Sat Nav. .

Thanks, was hoping that was the problem with no power to the GPS Navi box, I'm assuming it isn't! 99% of the system seems to be working, there is power to the head unit, just seems as though there will be one thing needs sorting for it all to work. I can dream anyway... |

You could try a battery disconnect, look in the WIKI, Link top right under fullfatrr.com for the correct procedure.....

Will a 2002 have BT? My 2003 has that connector and a cable attached but no BT as far as I'm aware. Happy to be wrong about that, though!
On mine the cable disappears in the LHR corner. I can't see to where it goes.

Interesting, mate. In that case I'll have a look see if any of the wires are at a loose end! Don't think they are though! I wouldn't have thought the system would have bluetooth! Fingers crossed! |

So I found the pink/purple connector that goes on top of the GPS Navi box, for one second a red power light appeared on the Navi box, can't get it to come back on now, though... Seems like it's so close to working but just that final hurdle. Got a quote for £56ph + VAT for an auto electrician to look at it... |

I'm fairly sure that no power to the GPS drive is the problem as this drives whats on the screen especially as your orange radio light is on. The disc and firmware in the drive contain the menu and screen flash so thats why you can't see anything or control the audio. The backlight on the heading confirms thats all ok, so it must be down to the drive / drive connections.

The power supply is common to all the parts of the system, it's a red/green pretty thick wire, if the light on the head unit is on then chances are it's not the fuse but it could be the wiring, check you have 12volts to the red/green wire at the Nav DVD, if there is then the chances are it's faulty inside... Get the earth from the brown wire in the same plug, that way you check the power and the earth, if you get 12volts both wires are ok, if no volts try an earth from the car body via one of the earthing posts (bolt on the metal of the car with lots of brown wires going to it) if you have volts then the earth wire is damaged... Nothing at all try fuse 49 30amp..

I would be inclined to undo the 3 plugs on the top of the DSP unit and connection plug on the satnav unit and check for corrosion of the pins and sockets.
