Is the electric closing function (on the key fob) standard on all 405's or was it an option?

Only got remote fob tailgate opening on my March 13 build.

Gesture tailgate opening is now standard but not sure if that or fob closes tailgate? GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

Does it work well? Can you do it manually without the key if you want? (And it's not locked obviously)

Fairly sure it's standard across the whole range.

As Frank said, there are 3 buttons - one on the remote fob, one by the drivers right knee and one on the tailgate itself - all 3 open & close the tailgate (and stop it part way), though the one on the actual tailgate cannot be accessed when it's full closed.

Have we heard of many reliability issues with it over the last three years?

I've not heard any.

The only slight challenge with it is forcing the boot closed when you've over packed it as it obviously has a sensor and re-opens if it thinks there is an obstruction. Even that isn't a real problem though.

I'm sure that at some point, something in the hydraulic mechanism will need replacing - it is just something else to go wrong - but not heard of any issues so far

And there is something about opening the boot as you walk up to the car

Yes, that was the reason for my question. I have a dog so the tailgate is opened and closed several times a day! Just wondering if it has a known wear - out point and I bet its expensive............

my hatch was broken at the the screws placement of the body - got a new one from the dealer.  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

@Alistair - not sure what you mean by the one on the tailgate not being accessible when fully closed? Do you mean the button on the lower half (which you wouldn't need access to anyway until the upper part had lifted)? If it's the one on the upper half, that can be used to open the tailgate even if the rest of the car is locked (assuming you have your key fob on your person). Steve

My electric tailgate has always been a bit problematic. I initially had problems closing it via the fob or the button on the tailgate which was sorted with a software update under warranty. Now it is currently playing up again with another problem

Agree the one on the outside is still there and available

I should probably have said that there are 3 buttons that you wouldn't find on an L322
