The excitement! No work done this morning. Although scared to do some things. Like do I select 13 for my tow bar electrics? It doesn't say 13 pin it just says module 13.. Is it a 16 way seat I have? Do I need to tell it what kind of speakers i have!

Leave the CCF alone unless specifically necessary. It's an area that needs caution and sufficient voltage while flashing is essential to prevent failure. By all means play with the live values etc. but the CCF and ECU flashing is not to be used lightheartedly.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Oh, I was straight in no kissing! Changed DRL's, Alarm Chirrup and towing things. Looks like I was lucky!

top tip, whilst you are playing with the tool make sure the engine is running or you have a battery charger attached other wise you'll soon get a flat battery... ... - .- -.

The CCF flash is only quick, so it's not normally a problem unless the battery is a little worse for wear. Changing parameters that outn't be changed is still a risk too, of course, but GAP don't include access to problem ones.

The IID is very reliable for flashing and recovery, but prevention is better than a cure.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

To expand on Stan's comment, for functions like CCF editing and ECU flashing, of course, you can't have the engine running, which is where back-up power comes in. It's important to note that a standard charger is NOT suitable for flashing ECUs, due to the excessive voltage ripple and hence a smooth supply mode is required.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I'm getting scared now! I edited the CCF with the engine running. It the turned it off and did all the stuff. The only caveat was when the upload was complete to start stop and start the engine again. Seems to be fine now and my changes have certainly been applied.

Well, the ones I can check quickly like alarm and DRL.

its ok, i adjust my ccf with the engine running..i think flashing ecu's needs the engine off and battery charger attached.. ... - .- -.

It's only the writing that is the important bit (well, and reading). As far as the running engine goes, until you select upload it hasn't done anything to the car.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
