Annoying Radio

Hi Guys. Just got my 2003 vogue today and I've got an annoying problem with the radio! It's like something's pulsing through the speakers or an easier way to explain it would be to say it sounds like someone's turning the volume up and down every 5 seconds. I've had a quick play with settings but no joy. Has anyone come across a similar problem or got any ideas? Sad Thanks in advance

Stef..

Do you have an aftermarket phone kit installed or anything else that's non standard?

The next bet if everything is standard is to get some contact cleaner and spray all the plugs into the various audio equipment in the boot (left hand side) Whilst you're there, check for water leaks as these play havoc with the audio system.

Hi Dan, Thanks for that. It does have an aftermarket Rear Entertainment system DVD/PS2 Which I can't get to work properly. I'm a bit of a numb nuts when it comes to anything electrical so I'll have to get it looked at. Can anyone recommend someone in South East Kent?

Hi Stef, I'm going to go for a more basic answer just on the off chance. If your volume goes up and down, is it when you speed up and slow down and does it also occur on the CD player etc? If it does, it's most likely the AVC (Automatic volume control) is set too high so that small increases in speed cause the volume to go up noticeably (and vice-versa). I have the touch screen but assume pre-touch etc have the AVC somewhere and I set it a bit too high once and as I say went onto a motorway slip road, the volume ramped up too much, so I turned the sensitivity down. Just a thought. Steve

Update to annoying radio!!! Hi all after being without my ffrr for 5 weeks now, yes that's right 5 weeks. The dealer has finally come up with the fix!!! The car went into Land Rover for a diagnosis and the sat nav unit was found to be faulty, the part was ordered and fitted in under a week but didn't solve the problem with the radio.
I was then told that they needed to replace an ecu but weren't able to source one in the UK so had to order one from BMW Germany. This part took a little longer just under 3 weeks to arrive and fit! Bow down But hey you guessed it still hadn't fixed the radio.
After getting in a Land Rover audio specialist, not sure that's his full title, it turns out that they now need to order new keys from Germany and pair them too the new ecu. The pulsing is coming from the immobiliser and have been guaranteed that once the new keys arrive and are paired up this will solve the annoying radio problem! Fingers crossed lets hope so!!
As soon as I get her back I'll be sure to post plenty of pics Thumbs Up

On the plus side I'm not picking up the bill Razz

I had something odd the other day where the volume kept rising on its own - nothing to do with speed, just getting louder. Happened one time and hasn't come back.
