opend the bonnet and noticed that at the back of the engine where the battery sits on the left it is uncovered ? Is it missing a cover ? Also same place on the right is un covered !

I presume you opened the bonnet before you bought the car?

There is a guide on here somewhere that involves an egg box, some black paint and a prix stick. Much cheaper than the cover from land rover. 2004 black Vogue TD6

My thoughts

a) Its derived from a tractor so you should be able to see the battery even with the bonnet down.
b) The Battery is very expensive = thing of beauty = so why cover it. Landrover kindly afforded us full on visual battery porn by making the bonnet hinge even further to give a better view Very Happy
c) if it was covered then it would only delay the jump starting of jumbo jets (just pretend there are no + and - terminals elsewhere for artistic impression).

So, the thread title. Does this time only happen when your 'bonnet is open'? Shocked Not sure you should be reading this bit.
