I have 275/45x20 on my TD6 RR, they work great, the sound difference over a normal road pattern is virtually unnoticeable and they have made a massive difference to grip levels on dirt, mud and snow. Best £600 I ever spent.

2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Epsom Green

Have to say that I hate the 255/50/20 scorpion zero's that came with my 2011 vogue se.
Bogged down in minimal mud whilst visiting rural France and no grip on wet grass towing a caravan.
Land Rover official advice is to swap to 19" rims and 255/55/19's Verde as "Scorpion zero are an on road summer tyre".
To be fair on-road in dry or wet they seem fine, but why would I buy a FFRR if I only want to drive on road ?

scorpion verdes are an all season on road tyre and are what are fitted to many new disco sports etc. They are no more off road than the Zeros, infact the zero are a more aggressive tread pattern than the verde, which are definitely a "road" tread pattern although they have extra sipes cut into them for snowy conditions

verde

zero

in terms of grip 19 or 20" won't make a difference, the reason I suspect LR advised 19 is that there is no 20" 255 50 20 option on the verde and this is now their preferred tyre. Pirelli were supposed to be stopping production of the zero but they are still producing it.

Wet grass is the worst of surfaces to grip on and there is little you can do once you lose traction, whether you have road biased tyres or something like an cooper LTZ or Grabber.

I have Zeros on my RR and Coopers on the disco, unless you are going to go properly off road then the Zeros will suffice, and neither will work well on wet grass...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have just got my L322 and took the Scorpion's off and replaced them with General Grabbers 255/55/R20 - good all round Tyre for winter and summer and not noisy

To counter the above, just fitted 255 50 R20 scorpion zeros onto mine. having come from cushy 18" winter wheels, the car feels a while lot more planted and grippy.

Compared to the 255/55 generals I had fitted before the winters, I still prefer the lower 50 profile. I just felt the 55 profile was too soft on the side wall under hard cornering, making the tail end feel unstable. Granted that could be the tyres themselves rather than the profile, but it put me off and in glad I went back to the 50 profile. that instability feeling has gone. V8 or else ...

Thanks for all the (very informative) input.
Have gone with 255/55/20 Scorpion Verde all round.
Definitely a "nicer" ride on road,
waiting to see what happens on (light) mud/farm track and grass but wont expect miracles given the info you guys have provided.
