Yeah there's something that you can pay to a 3rd party that will put in a final bid at the very last 30 seconds , it has a particular name but can't remember it at the moment Thumbs Up

Even if you set a maximum amount on eBay a sniper bid will automatically beat it as it tracks it Shocked

Whistle https://www.bidnapper.com/index.php3 Whistle

Works for me Wink and it places the bid in the last 10 seconds of the auction, so there is no time to respond Shocked
I got it after I tried to buy a couple of bits from the states, I placed a reasonable bid, and some Censored bid $60 in $1 amounts until I'd been outbid Sad at stupid o'clock in the morning Big Cry
To to stop the Big Cry I got Bidnapper Twisted Evil and they don't see me til it's too late Twisted Evil The other advantage is if you partake in 'Drunk Bidding', when the new day dawns, the racket has subsided and the reality of 'Oh No, I didn't did I Censored Censored Censored Banging Head Banging Head ' you can just cancel the bid and no body has to know you were there Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Shocked Don't think that's right Rolling Eyes

Bidnapper will only bid the amount that you have set, and it's a one off bid, ebay sorts out the bidding, provided that your bid is higher than the next bidding increment and you bid the highest amount, you will win. I have lost no end of auctions, as the amount that I have bid has not been enough. Or to put it another way the silly money has got involved and I'm not interested anymore.

When I won my Shogun it had been sitting at the opening bid of 1100 since the start of the auction and there was only 1 bid, the bidding increments were at 10, and I had valued the car at 1300. So I set bid napper to bid at 1301.00, and at the last second I won the auction for 1301 Very Happy While the other chap in the auction had valued the car at 1300, he had forgotten the number one rule, never bid an even amount. And although the bidding increments were 10, and I had only beaten him by a 1 it was not the the next increment as I had raised the bid by 201.00. Needless to say he must have been a very happy bunny, right up to the last 2 or 3 seconds when he was out bid by a pound Mr. Green

So if you are going to use a proxy bidding service, you still have to bid a reasonable amount to stand a chance of winning. The big difference is your interest will not show until it's too late for anyone to react, and it will stop you getting in to a bidding war, but it will not guarantee that you will win. You still have to bid the highest amount Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Trouble with the number one rule is this:

"OK, I'll add 1. Hmm, but someone else might do that; I'll make it 1.05, no, 1.06. Hang on, they might have the same idea! OK, 1.84. Oh, but I may as well make it 2 then, well, OK, 2.07. No, 2.66. No, wait... Arggghhhh!" Rolling with laughter

I've just been looking into this though, but as far as I can see, it is as I thought? If you place an automatic maximum bid on Ebay, then no matter who bids at the end, you will still win so long as no-one bids higher than your maximum. That was what I meant, because presumably chefkenmore was willing to bid higher.

I presume, that you do mean with a lower bid or are you saying that's not the case and that a sniper bid can actually beat a higher maximum automatic bid (e.g. software glitch)? Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Any of these "tools" will still only bid up to your maximum defined value, the only difference is, it does it with very little time left before the end of the auction. This is useful, as it doesn't "show your hand" too soon and allow others to outbid you. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey
