Key fob synching issue

Hi all, had a low battery issue and my primary remote key fob stopped working ie I could not remotely lock or unlock the car but am able to start the car once I am inside. The spare key works fine on all functions.

Replaced the battery in the key and carried out the synch procedure (ignition on off, press and hold unlock button and press lock button 3 times). This has worked but then the other key stopped working. Have tried a number of times in delude rent sequences but the synching of one key is de-synching the other one.

Any ideas? I have tried starting with one key and then the other and even reversed order in which I insert and synch the keys but no luck. Would want to avoid a trip to the dealers if I can.

Many thanks African Bush Junkie ... in London!

i had to do exactly this the other day.... you have to do both (or all) keys straight after each other, without 'starting again' ie do one, then immediately do the other, firm presses of the buttons etc. doors should lock/unlock etc. (each time)

then rejoice/smile etc, and spend the money saved (from the dealers non-visit), on a tank full of fuel..

I tried that several times without joy. The first key would sync (doors lock/unlock) but then when I did the same for the second key and the doors lock/unlock on that one the first key doesn't work any more. Sad

Is there anything else I need to be doing once the sync is complete and the doors lock/unlock? E.g. insert first key back in and redo?

all I think I did after doing both, was to try each one (in my hand) whilst still in the car, lock/unlock it worked 2nd time for me. maybe it didn't work on the time(s) you tried. I thought I had to rush, but it seemed to be easy to do, once you had done a 'rehersal'

Did you put the key back in the ignition after each key had synced? That may be where I have been going wrong. Will try just doing the ignition thing first and then syncing keys one after the other with button press only. African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Yes, I just inserted key turned to 1 withdrew clicked each keys buttons, and got a clunk/clunk then did the other, again clunk/clunk, then I just tested them in my hand. (Clunk/clunk.). Then got out and locked it, and it chirped, so to me they were ok, and since then I have used both normally. And I tried doing the button hold and windows down all ok today too.
I'm happy!

All Sorted!

My mistake was re-inserting second key into the ignition thus restrarting the sync process.

I'm having the same problem as you had with my keys, I sync one key and the other loses the will to work.

From reading your thread should I put both keys in the ignition after sync or just one Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty, nothing else matters.

Put one in, then just push the buttons on the other. If you put the second in then you start the procedure again. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
